Engaging guests at events is the main focus for all events producers and their clients. Guests demand activities that allow them to be part of the experience rather than passive on lookers.

For a long time, tried and tested activations like photo booths, caricaturists, roaming magicians have provided guest engagement. Today, technology continues to provide event producers with new ideas and activities like Virtual and Augmented reality.

It’s here where the latest tech kid on the block shines. Mash Machine is an activity like no other that takes ordinary people and turns them into DJ’s by simply moving blocks across a surface. It was this idea that excited Veritas Events when they were looking for an activity to engage an international audience on a recent incentive event for their client, Lenovo.

Taking place on a cruise ship on the Sydney harbour, Mash Machine was placed on the upper level during pre-dinner drinks. Custom branded, the unit attracted curious guests quickly. With the help of a host, guests were given brief easy to understand instructions and it wasn’t long before the guests themselves were creating the background music to the space.

Despite the language barriers that existed amongst the 120 guests from all over South East Asia, Mash Machine’s simple yet engaging concept was easily understood. Music as a medium has a powerful way to transcend many barriers including language and be a truly inclusive medium.
